Zypher XP | Used-game buying guide
Fable: The Journey for Xbox 360 puts its most consequential buying advice on a purple front-cover panel: “Requires Kinect Sensor.” Read that before planning another trip to Albion. Your spare Xbox controller does not satisfy this game's equipment requirement.
This is an Albion adventure built around body movements, rather than a conventional gamepad adventure with an optional camera trick. Before buying a copy, identify the console and sensor you will use, then check what the selected listing actually supplies. The game, the packaging and the equipment needed to play are three separate shopping questions.

What kind of Fable are you buying?
The ESRB's description of the finished game identifies Gabriel, a first-person viewpoint and movement-based interaction: casting magic, solving puzzles and fighting fantasy creatures. That is the useful starting point. Choose it because you want to try that particular way of interacting with Albion, rather than because the franchise name promises the same controls as another installment.
Microsoft's September 2012 demo announcement also describes magic, chases, puzzles and a horse companion. It explicitly required Kinect for that demo. This dated announcement explains the original pitch; its old download link is not a promise that the demo can still be newly obtained today.
For a household purchase, check the rating as carefully as the accessory badge. The North American ESRB record is T for Teen, with Mild Blood, Mild Language and Violence. A fantasy setting and a horse do not automatically make a game suitable for every younger player.
Keep the Xbox generation attached to the sensor
The relevant equipment is Kinect for Xbox 360. A listing that merely says “Xbox camera” leaves a question unanswered. Ask for the exact model and the connections supplied, then check the instructions for the particular Xbox 360 console you intend to use.

Do not buy an Xbox One setup on the assumption that backward compatibility solves this. Microsoft's Xbox One compatibility announcement specifically excluded Xbox 360 accessories, Kinect and games requiring those accessories. The present Xbox compatibility page likewise describes support for selected games, not a blanket guarantee for every Xbox 360 disc.
Our buying recommendation is straightforward: plan this purchase around an Xbox 360 and its matching Kinect equipment. A newer console's ability to play some other Fable game does not establish support for this one.
Separate a complete game from a complete setup
When comparing used copies, read the selected condition and included-item description. A game sold with its case can still require separately purchased hardware. A sensor pictured elsewhere on a store page is not automatically part of the game's order. Treat the Kinect requirement as a requirement, not an inventory list.
For a collector, packaging may be part of the goal. For a player, a suitable disc and working equipment may matter more. Decide which purchase you are making before comparing options. Keep a note of any missing parts so that an attractive game price does not become a surprise equipment hunt.
Ask three specific questions before paying
First: does this offer include only Fable: The Journey, or does it explicitly include the Xbox 360 Kinect equipment? Second: are the photos reference artwork or pictures of the actual items? Third: if a console-and-sensor package is involved, can the seller demonstrate movement input inside this game using the equipment in that offer?
Once you have the equipment, follow its applicable setup instructions and the game's prompts before judging the controls. For any repair or connection problem, identify the model first. Avoid buying an unverified adapter on the strength of the word “Kinect” alone.
