007: Nightfire places you directly in the tailored suit of British secret agent James Bond on a global mission to dismantle the secretive Phoenix International Corporation. While the corporation publicly claims to dismantle nuclear warheads across the world, deeper evidence exposes its CEO, Raphael Drake, as a rogue industrialist intent on commandeering those very weapons for his own catastrophic designs. With Drake's operations deeply buried, your assignment is to track him across more than ten exotic international locales while encountering iconic Bond women along the way.
As a first-person shooter with dedicated vehicle sequences, the game challenges you to combine aggressive gunplay, stealthy infiltration, and clever gadget utility across its twelve core missions. Armed with classic sidearms like your trusty Walther alongside experimental prototype machinery, you must infiltrate tightly guarded facilities where a direct firefight is only one of many solutions. Q Branch equips you with signature tools such as a laser watch and X-ray eyeglasses, which let you uncover hidden security vulnerabilities, bypass environmental hazards, and manipulate objectives from the shadows.
Beyond on-foot espionage, five distinct driving missions put you squarely behind the wheel of the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish and other high-performance sports cars. These vehicular stages introduce high-speed pursuits and aggressive road combat that break up the traditional infantry action. Whether you are trading paint with enemy vehicles or racing against time to reach a checkpoint, these sequences demand precise driving mechanics and quick reflexes.
When you are ready to take the battle off the solo campaign trail, the multiplayer suite supports up to four offline players via local split-screen action. You can jump into over ten distinct multiplayer modes encompassing free-for-all, one-on-one, and team configurations. To ensure robust matches regardless of your human player count, the game includes fully configurable computer bots that populate the arenas with deadly precision. Furthermore, these competitive arenas feature maps and playable characters pulled directly from classic James Bond films, offering a nostalgic playground for longtime fans of the franchise.
Designed specifically for sixth-generation hardware, the Nintendo GameCube version leverages advanced technical features to elevate the presentation. The software supports progressive scan output at 480p for sharper visuals alongside Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound that immerses you in every crossfire and engine roar. With its blend of objective-driven solo espionage, high-speed vehicle pursuits, and flexible local multiplayer, Nightfire delivers a complete, action-packed Bond experience right out of the box.
