Disney Infinity: 3.0 Edition
Disney Characters, Star Wars Adventures, and a World You Can Build
Disney Infinity: 3.0 Edition combines character-driven action with a creative Toy Box where Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars figures can share the same space. Its appeal comes from having two ways to play: follow a themed adventure through a compatible Play Set, or use the Toy Box to arrange your own worlds and activities.
This is the PS4 game software listing. A compatible Disney Infinity Base and at least one Disney Infinity character figure are required to play. Figures, a Base, and Play Set pieces are separate physical components; choosing a disc condition does not turn this listing into a Starter Pack. Check your existing setup before buying the software.
How the Figures and Toy Box Work
A physical character figure placed on the Base supplies the character you control in the game. The Toy Box is the place to experiment with that collection: move through a toy-like environment, place objects, and build activities around the characters you own. The software supports Disney Infinity figures from earlier editions as well as the 3.0 range, so an existing figure collection can have a role beyond its original release.
Building is about making something playable, not simply lining up scenery. Disney's own 3.0 tutorials demonstrate how to guide another player through an adventure and create interiors. That gives the Toy Box a different purpose from a fixed story campaign: you can spend a session playing a prepared activity or spend it deciding what a player should do in a space you have built.
Play Sets Give the Action a Different Shape
Compatible 3.0 Play Sets supply themed adventures, with their own character rules and required physical pieces. Twilight of the Republic draws on the Star Wars prequel era, while Rise Against the Empire follows the original-trilogy setting. These Star Wars adventures include ground combat and spacecraft sequences, with toy versions of the characters using abilities such as lightsaber attacks, the Force, or blasters.
The Inside Out Play Set takes its characters and setting from Pixar's film. The important shopping distinction is that the game software and an adventure's Play Set piece are different things. This listing does not promise every Play Set, figure, or expansion, and having a figure usable in the Toy Box does not mean it automatically belongs in every story adventure.
Expansion Games and Collection Compatibility
The separately supplied Toy Box Takeover and Toy Box Speedway expansion games offer structured action-adventure and kart-racing activities. Disney's announcement confirmed support for earlier Disney Infinity character collections in those expansion games and the 3.0 Toy Box. They are useful examples of why the Toy Box and Play Sets should be considered separately when planning a setup.
The version number does not require an existing PlayStation owner to replace every accessory. Disney specifically confirmed that an existing PS3 or PS4 Base can be used for 3.0 on PlayStation. Confirm the Base you own is compatible with the console you intend to use; a character figure and a console Base are not interchangeable requirements.
Local Play and the Current Service Limitation
The PS4 version supports one or two local players. Local character play and compatible Play Set content are the practical focus today. Disney's shutdown schedule, published in July 2016 and preserved in contemporaneous reporting, ended Disney Infinity's online services and community features on March 3, 2017. Online multiplayer and community Toy Box uploading or downloading should not be treated as available features when buying it now.
Older storefront pages still show the game's original online-player information. That describes its former service support, not a reason to expect those services to return. For a secondhand setup, the useful checklist is straightforward: the PS4 software, a compatible Base, the character figures you want to use, and the correct Play Set or expansion pieces for any separately supplied activities.
