About the Game
Far Cry 5 is a first-person shooter in the Far Cry series set in an open-world version of Hope County, a fictional region of Montana in the United States. Players take the role of a customizable junior deputy sheriff who becomes stranded in the county after an attempt to arrest cult leader Joseph Seed. Seed and his followers, known as the Project at Eden's Gate, have seized control of the region, and the deputy must work with local resistance groups to weaken the cult's influence and confront its leaders. The game allows players to freely explore the countryside on foot or by vehicle, completing story missions, side activities, and encounters in any order.

The campaign can be played alone or cooperatively with another player.
Gameplay & Core Systems
Combat features a variety of firearms, explosives, and melee weapons, alongside hunting and fishing activities. Players can recruit human allies through the Guns for Hire system, as well as animal companions with abilities that assist in combat and exploration. Progress is tied to a resistance system in which actions performed throughout the county increase local resistance and unlock major story events. In addition to the main game, the game includes Far Cry Arcade , a map editor that lets players create and share single-player, cooperative, and competitive multiplayer scenarios using assets from Far Cry 5 and several other Ubisoft games.
