Imagine: Artist
Imagine: Artist is a Nintendo DS art-career simulation that places the player in a working studio. Guided lessons introduce techniques, client assignments turn those skills into practical projects, and completed pieces build a portfolio and reputation. The result is more structured than a basic drawing utility: free creativity is part of the experience, but the central loop is learning, practicing, and completing work for people who visit the studio.
Learn the Tools, Then Take Commissions
The career begins with approachable lessons and mini-games covering activities such as drawing, tracing, painting, color mixing, and collage. Projects ask the player to apply those techniques to a specific brief rather than simply fill an empty canvas. As assignments are completed, new opportunities and events become available, creating a steady path from studio apprentice to a better-known artist.
Client work gives the art tools a reason to change from one task to the next. One project may emphasize accurate lines or shapes, another may focus on choosing and blending colors, and another may use decorative pieces in a collage. This variety keeps the stylus work connected to the career structure while still leaving room to experiment and develop a personal portfolio.
Stylus-Based Art on Nintendo DS
The touch screen and stylus are the main tools for drawing and selecting materials. The two-screen layout allows the game to show instructions, references, or project information while the lower screen remains the work surface. Simple guided tasks make the software accessible to newer players, while the growing collection of projects gives returning players a record of what they have completed.
- Practice drawing, painting, tracing, color mixing, and collage through guided lessons and mini-games.
- Complete client commissions and studio events to improve reputation and expand the portfolio.
- Use touch-screen tools to create and customize art rather than choosing only preset answers.
- On a Nintendo DSi, use the built-in camera to bring captured photos into supported art activities.
DSi Enhancement and Legacy Online Feature
The North American game card is DSi-enhanced. When played on a Nintendo DSi or DSi XL, its camera can be used to capture a photo and incorporate it into artwork. A camera is not built into the original Nintendo DS or DS Lite, so that optional feature requires DSi hardware; the core lessons, commissions, and stylus art activities remain the main cartridge experience.
Original marketing also advertised uploading designs to an Imagine Town online gallery. That feature is historical and must not be presented as currently available. Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for Nintendo DS software ended in 2014, and no operating Imagine Town service was verified. The solo, offline studio and art content does not require an internet connection or account.
