Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (Special Edition)
Two racers, one kart
Mario Kart: Double Dash!! changes the familiar kart-racing formula by putting two characters on each vehicle. One handles the driving while the other manages items, and switching their positions becomes part of the race. Pair familiar Mushroom Kingdom characters, learn the courses and use each team's abilities to find an advantage through corners, shortcuts and crowded stretches of track.
The two-character system also changes how people can play together. Compete against friends in local races or share control of a kart cooperatively, with each player taking a role. Grand Prix events provide a series of races to work through, while time trials offer a quieter challenge focused on improving your line. Battle modes give items and arena tactics their own place outside the normal racing schedule.
The Special Edition originally packaged the full Double Dash!! game with a separate bonus preview disc. The racing game itself is the same Double Dash!! release, while the additional disc contains preview material. Packaging and disc contents should therefore be checked carefully when comparing a loose game disc with a boxed Special Edition copy.
Special Edition contents
