Rare Replay is a compilation of 30 games by developer Rare and Ultimate Play the Game / Ashby Computers and Graphics to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the studio. The included games are:
None of the included games were previously available for Xbox One. Games released before 1996 have additional features such as the option to add scanlines, modifiers such as unlimited lives and an option to rewind progress. Games are introduced with a theatrical presentation. The Xbox 360 titles cannot be played directly from the game, but need to be installed separately and require a one-time online activation. Online multiplayer is available for the games that had it included originally, as well as most of their DLCs. Achievements from previously played Xbox 360 games are carried over.
Also included are the two galleries Rare Revealed and Snapshots. Rare Revealed contains behind-the-scenes content, concept art, unreleased music and video clips about the studio's history, game development and unreleased games. Snapshots contains small segments or mini-games of sixteen games in the collection as small challenges, similar to the NES Remix series. Certain achievements and milestones are rewarded with stamps, used to unlock content in the Rare Revealed gallery. Popular titles such as GoldenEye 007 and Donkey Kong Country are not included due to licensing issues.
