Return Fire
About the Game
Return Fire is a single-player and two-player vehicular action strategy game. It is the spiritual successor to Fire Power . The game is built around a military capture-the-flag contest between opposing bases.
Story & Setting
There is no story campaign centered on named characters. Combat takes place from an overhead view.
Gameplay & Core Systems
players commands a small motor pool and must locate the enemy flag, take it from the opposing bunker, and return it to players’ own base. The battlefield is filled with roads, bridges, water, hills, buildings, gun emplacements, mines, and enemy vehicles, making each mission a combination of scouting, attack, defense, and route planning. Instead, each map presents a tactical objective: use the available vehicles to break through the enemy’s defenses and either capture the flag or destroy the opposing base. players may switch vehicles at the home base, deciding which machine is best suited to the current task. The tank is slower but durable, with a rotating cannon suited to direct attacks on defenses and enemy vehicles.
Standout Features
- Instead, each map presents a tactical objective: use the available vehicles to break through the enemy’s defenses and either capture the flag or destroy the opposing base.
- players may switch vehicles at the home base, deciding which machine is best suited to the current task.
- The jeep is fast and lightly armored, and it is the only vehicle that can pick up and carry the enemy flag.
- The tank is slower but durable, with a rotating cannon suited to direct attacks on defenses and enemy vehicles.
- The helicopter can fly over terrain and water, making it useful for scouting, striking isolated targets, and bypassing ground obstacles.
- The Armoured Support Vehicle is slower and heavier, but it can deliver powerful long-range attacks and provide support against fortified areas.
- Fuel and ammunition can be replenished at appropriate depots, while damage can force players to abandon a vehicle or return for another attempt.
- Running out of fuel can leave a vehicle stranded, and losing the wrong vehicle at the wrong time can make the flag difficult or impossible to recover without changing strategy.
Modes & Ways to Play
The game supports two-player competitive play, with each player controlling a base and vehicle set while trying to capture the other’s flag. In multiplayer, offense and defense occur at the same time, and players must decide whether to protect their own bunker, attack the enemy base, intercept a flag carrier, or destroy key vehicles and routes.
Player support includes Same/Split-Screen, Free-for-all / One-on-one (VS), and 1-2 Players.
