About the Game
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories reimagines the premise of the original Silent Hill rather than retelling it scene for scene. Harry Mason survives a car crash and searches the snowbound town for his missing daughter, Cheryl. The journey is framed by therapy sessions in which the player answers questions and interacts with objects; those responses, along with behavior during exploration, influence character details, environments and later scenes.
Exploration & Psychological Horror
Normal exploration focuses on observation and puzzles instead of combat. Harry uses a flashlight to examine dark rooms, a phone to make and receive calls, and its camera to reveal messages or unusual phenomena. Mementos, recordings and environmental clues build the town’s history without interrupting its lonely pace. On Wii, the Remote directly aims the flashlight, while the Nunchuk handles movement. Phone audio can play through the Remote speaker, bringing certain calls close to the player.
When the world freezes into the Nightmare state, the structure changes. Harry has no weapons and must run, climb, hide and misdirect pursuing creatures until he reaches safety. The creatures’ appearance can shift in response to the psychological profile built by the game. This separation between quiet investigation and frantic escape gives the experience a distinctive rhythm and keeps its tension rooted in vulnerability.
Wii Edition
The North American Wii release arrived on December 8, 2009. It is a one-player game developed by Climax Studios and published by Konami, with no online multiplayer component. The disc supports the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, progressive-scan output, widescreen presentation and Dolby Pro Logic II audio. The ESRB rates it M for Mature for blood, drug reference, language, sexual themes and violence.
