Take the tour onto the handheld
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 brings its golf competition to Game Boy Advance with five courses and a roster led by Tiger Woods and John Daly alongside four fantasy golfers. Career tournaments, Tiger Scenarios, Stroke Play and Skins give you several ways to approach the course, from working through a career to choosing another format for your next round.
Shape the swing and the shot
Swing with the directional pad, pulling back and then pushing forward to strike. Diagonal movement shapes a hook or slice. Tap a shoulder button during the backswing for extra power, or combine directional input with shoulder-button taps while the ball is airborne to influence its spin. Direction, timing and added spin all play a part in the shot.
A tutorial introduces the controls before you commit to competition. On the course, watch the wind indicator and use the caddy's putting guidance as you approach the hole. The career's earned money can improve four golfer attributes, giving tournament play a practical connection to developing your player's distance and accuracy.
Choose a course and a format
The course selection combines three real PGA Tour locations—St Andrews, TPC of Scottsdale and Bay Hill—with two fantasy courses. Between holes, the scoreboard lets you follow your opponents' results. Club choice, the landing area and changing weather provide things to consider as you move from the tee toward the green.
Career play includes full 18-hole tournament rounds and shorter three-hole scenarios. Practice offers another way to play a round before taking on a career event.
Follow play from tee to green
The handheld presentation combines a view behind your golfer at the tee with overhead views during play. Switch to the top-down aiming view before a drive to adjust your target and club.
Pass the handheld or connect a cable
Up to four people can play by passing one GBA between turns. Link play also supports up to four players, each needing a copy of the game. GameCube connectivity transfers statistics and money with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 for GameCube and unlocks Cedric Andrews as a playable golfer.
Cable play has two distinct connections: the Game Boy Advance Game Link cable for handheld competition and the Nintendo GameCube–Game Boy Advance cable for connecting the handheld game to GameCube. The North American box identifies both supported connections and states that multiplayer needs a Game Boy Advance Game Link cable, sold separately.
