Armorines Project SWARM
Armorines: Project S.W.A.R.M. puts you inside a powered combat suit as alien insects overrun Earth. This Nintendo 64 first-person shooter sends two very different soldiers into the invasion: Lewis favors strength and heavier protection, while Lane offers a quicker style of movement and fire. Choosing between them changes the feel of combat, giving the campaign a different rhythm when you return with the other character.
Missions combine shooting with exploration and assigned objectives. Large areas require you to search for routes and targets, rather than simply clear a corridor and move on. One jungle assignment involves hunting down alien eggs before they hatch. Progress depends on completing the mission list, so keeping track of unexplored corners matters alongside aiming and survival. The result is a methodical bug hunt with a hostile science-fiction setting and plenty of ground to cover.
Character-specific weapons are joined by special equipment found within each environment. Explosive ammunition needs replenishing, while infrared goggles help in darkness and Thumpers can distract nearby Bugs. Your assignments also include getting civilians to safety, adding moments where indiscriminate firing works against the mission.
The campaign can be played alone or by two people in local split-screen cooperative play. Competitive sessions support up to four players, with Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and King of the Hill alongside Racewars, where players take control of Bugs with different abilities. These modes give the same combat systems a more direct, player-versus-player focus.
A Nintendo 64 Controller Pak is used for saving. The optional Expansion Pak unlocks higher-resolution display settings, and Rumble Pak support adds vibration feedback. Each participant needs a controller for local multiplayer.
