Army Men: Sarge’s Heroes 2 sends Sarge and Bravo Company back into the war between the Green and Tan armies. General Plastro’s return brings another threat to the Green Nation, while Brigitte Bleu’s schemes complicate the fight. The adventure crosses between the soldiers’ Plastic World and an oversized everyday world, where ordinary household spaces become dangerous military territory. A fridge, freezer and toy store give the battles the strange scale of a war fought by living toys.

This third-person shooter combines mission objectives with movement, aiming and careful use of weapons. Sarge can jump obstacles, roll out of danger and take cover while looking for a route through the battlefield. Different assignments call for fighting enemy forces, protecting allies or destroying important targets. Vikki also becomes a playable part of the campaign, giving the story another perspective as the two characters pursue the Tan Army’s plans.

The arsenal ranges from rifles and grenades to heavier explosive weapons. Ammunition is limited, so picking up another weapon or saving a powerful shot for a tougher enemy can matter more than firing continuously. Medkits restore health, armor gives extra protection and other pickups strengthen the weapons you carry. Boot Camp provides a place to practise movement and controls before entering the campaign.

Local split-screen battles support two to four players, with selectable soldiers, battlefields and victory targets. The single-player campaign can record progress after completed missions using a Nintendo 64 Controller Pak. Mission codes provide another way to return to a later stage, and the optional Rumble Pak adds feedback during play.
