A Rescue Mission in Jurassic Park
Jurassic Park puts you in control of Dr. Alan Grant after a computer malfunction turns the dinosaur reserve into a dangerous wilderness. Tim and Lex are lost on the island, and finding them means heading into territory overrun by prehistoric predators. The search gives Grant a reason to explore beyond the visitor compound.
Raptors, spitters and tyrannosaurs are among the threats identified for this Game Boy adventure. The park's promise of safely encountering revived animals has broken down, leaving its paleontologist to deal with the creatures at ground level.
Shooting, Jumping and Exploring
The action uses an overhead view as you guide Grant around the park. Shooting and jumping are separate actions to manage while moving through an area. Different ammunition can be collected as you search, giving the gun more than a single supply to rely on.
Dinosaur eggs are part of the objective: collect or destroy them before advancing through a gate. Looking around the current area is therefore part of progress, alongside dealing with the dinosaurs that stand in the way. The route combines fighting with searching rather than simply running toward the edge of the screen.
Objectives, Gates and Encounters
Opening the way onward leads to further objectives, simple puzzles and boss encounters. The egg search and gates give the exploration a purpose within that progression, while the fights ask you to keep using Grant's shoot-and-jump controls.
The adventure is for one player, following Grant through the island. Its overhead routes keep the rescue mission tied to the space around him, with exploration and action sharing the same character's journey.
Dinosaurs in Monochrome
Detailed sprites and animated dinosaurs bring the park to the monochrome screen. Musical themes accompany the action, while the overhead perspective keeps Grant and nearby threats visible together.
The Original Game Boy Cartridge
This release was made for the original Game Boy system. Its package shows overhead dinosaur encounters alongside the film's jungle setting, identifying the handheld adventure as Grant's attempt to find Tim and Lex in a park whose safety systems have failed.
