About the Game
LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes brings Batman and Robin into a Gotham City crisis involving the Joker and Lex Luthor. Superman and other DC heroes join the response, giving the adventure a team whose powers reach beyond the Dynamic Duo's gadgets. The Wii U game combines story missions with a LEGO city you can explore between them, moving from scripted confrontations to searching streets and rooftops.
Missions mix fights, destructible scenery and puzzles that call for the right character or suit. Batman and Robin gain specialised outfits, and Superman's flight changes how you travel around Gotham. Breaking objects releases studs, while key items help you reach the next part of a stage. Those studs can fund more character unlocks.
Story progress introduces gadgets and characters, then the city gives you reasons to try them. Some gold bricks can be found directly; others reward vehicle time trials or platform challenges. As your powers grow, you can do more in Gotham, connecting campaign progress with a more thorough search of the city.
The Wii U GamePad provides an interactive Gotham map and touch-screen team selection, so navigation and character choice sit alongside the action. Off-TV Play also places the adventure on the GamePad display. These features give the Wii U version its own way of organising a search through the city.
Local co-op supports two players. One can use the TV while the other uses the GamePad screen, allowing each to explore a different part of Gotham; starting a mission brings the pair back into the same activity. Drop-in/drop-out play lets a friend join the adventure. The North American box identifies GamePad and Wii Remote with Nunchuk support; playing together requires a second supported controller setup.
Replaying completed levels gives you another chance to collect what you missed, and the Batcave includes a Custom Character option for experimenting with a minifigure of your own. Voiced story scenes deliver the jokes and disagreements between the heroes. Gotham's LEGO architecture is accompanied by familiar Batman and Superman film music. Flight as Superman gives that exploration a different pace from a street-level search.
