About the Game
Mario Party 3 brings the Mushroom Kingdom cast back to the Nintendo 64 for a contest over the Millennium Star. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Wario, Donkey Kong and additional challengers move around themed boards, collect Coins and compete for Stars. Board spaces can trigger hazards, item opportunities or sudden reversals, so a strong lead is never completely safe from Bowser, Boo or a lucky opponent.
Boards, Items & Minigames
Battle Royale boards support up to four participants and regularly pause for short competitions. The game includes more than 70 minigames spanning free-for-all, two-versus-two, one-versus-three and battle formats. Winning usually pays Coins that can be spent on Stars or items. New item mechanics add more control over board movement and interference, from changing a dice roll to redirecting another player’s route. The result keeps the series’ blend of board-game luck and quick skill challenges while offering more ways to plan between turns.
Duel and Story Modes
Duel Mode changes the format for two-player matches. Each competitor recruits partners such as Goomba, Boo or Thwomp, then positions and pays them to attack the rival while protecting the space behind or ahead. Story Mode links Battle Royale and Duel games into a single-player path toward the Millennium Star. The original cartridge supports one to four players locally and does not depend on an online service; the modern Nintendo Switch Online release is a separate version and its Internet features do not apply to this N64 cartridge. Developed by Hudson Soft and published by Nintendo, the North American Nintendo 64 release arrived on May 6, 2001 and is rated E for Everyone.
