About the Game
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is a first-person survival game set before the events of AMC’s television series. Players take the role of Daryl Dixon as he and his brother Merle travel through rural Georgia during the first days of the outbreak. Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker reprise their television roles, grounding the story in the Dixon brothers’ uneasy relationship and the series’ early-apocalypse atmosphere.
Scavenging & Survival
Firearms can stop walkers quickly, but gunshots create noise and may draw a larger group. Melee weapons and Daryl’s reusable crossbow bolts offer quieter alternatives, while stealth and distraction can avoid confrontations altogether. Supplies, ammunition and fuel are limited, so searching buildings is as important as shooting. Walkers react to sight, sound and smell, making doors, narrow spaces and escape routes part of each encounter.
Travel between story locations adds a strategic layer. Highways are faster but risk breakdowns; back roads take longer and can create more opportunities to scavenge. Survivors may join the group, yet vehicle capacity is limited. Players decide who travels, what gear each person carries and whether companions should search for supplies while Daryl completes a mission. Branching routes and unpredictable road events encourage more than one playthrough.
Wii U Edition
This is a one-player game with no online multiplayer requirement. The Wii U version supports the GamePad and Wii U Pro Controller, with the GamePad touch screen used for inventory access. Developed by Terminal Reality and published by Activision, it was released in North America on March 19, 2013 and is rated M for Mature by the ESRB for blood and gore, intense violence and strong language.
