Lead a whole superhero team as one weapon
The Wonderful 101 is PlatinumGames' Wii U action adventure about an alien invasion too large for any single hero. Wonder-Red and the Wonderful Ones recruit citizens, surround enemies, and combine the team into enormous tools and weapons. You control the crowd as a moving unit rather than managing each hero separately, turning scale and formation into the heart of both combat and traversal.
Draw Unite Morphs, then use them with purpose
The Wonder-Liner traces shapes with the Wii U GamePad touch screen or the right stick. Close a shape and the gathered heroes become a Unite Morph: a giant fist for heavy blows and turning mechanisms, a sword for broad slashes, a gun for ranged attacks, or another specialized form learned during the campaign. Defensive and traversal morphs matter too. The team can become a jelly to absorb an impact, a bridge or ladder to cross an obstacle, or a glider for aerial movement.
Larger formations hit harder but use more teammates and Unite Gauge energy. Quick team attacks can send heroes swarming over a target, opening it to stronger Unite Morph strikes. Multi-Unite Morphs let additional formations attack automatically when enough heroes and gauge power remain. Success comes from reading the encounter, drawing cleanly under pressure, and switching forms instead of repeating a single combo.
Recruit, explore, and build a stronger roster
Each stage is divided into missions that mix crowds, hidden routes, puzzles, set pieces, and battles with GEATHJERK forces. Circle civilians with the Wonder-Liner to temporarily add them to the formation; locate permanent Wonderful Ones to expand the roster. Hidden patterns can reveal items or open Kahkoo-regah challenge portals, rewarding players who investigate the environment rather than sprinting directly to the next fight.
Permanent heroes level up as the team deals damage and activates mechanisms. Levels can raise maximum vitality, open more Custom Block slots, and teach new attacks. O-Parts collected during play are spent at the Wonderful Mart on items, skills, Unite Morphs, and Custom Blocks. Those blocks create a small loadout system: one may improve Unite Morph power while another accelerates gauge recovery. Completed operations can be replayed from Operation Select, making higher ranks, missed recruits, and hidden challenges part of the longer progression.
Story mode and Wonderful Missions
The main story is a one-player campaign with adjustable difficulty and team-size settings. Wonderful Missions is a separate local mode for one to five players. Each participant commands a hero team through combat-focused missions, using a separate compatible controller; only one Wii U GamePad can be connected at a time. The result is simultaneous same-room action rather than online cooperative play.
Presentation and Wii U features
Comic-book poses, bright color, exaggerated scale, and rapid camera changes give the invasion the momentum of a superhero serial. The GamePad can show a sub-screen, accept touch-drawn formations, and swap displays with the television. The original game also supported Miiverse screenshot and text posts, but Miiverse is discontinued and Nintendo ended Wii U online communication on April 8, 2024. Story mode and local Wonderful Missions remain playable without an online service.
Platform and condition notes
This listing is for the North American Wii U disc release, developed by PlatinumGames and published by Nintendo. Supported local controls include the Wii U GamePad, Wii U Pro Controller, or a Wii Remote paired with a Classic Controller Pro; multiplayer requires one supported controller per player. Physical components vary by condition, so a disc-only or game-and-case copy should not be assumed to include the original manual, inserts, or other packaging unless explicitly listed.
