War Gods
About the Game
War Gods is a one-on-one 3D fighting game built around ten combatants transformed by fragments of a mysterious life-giving ore. Each fighter draws on a different ancient culture or mythic archetype, giving the roster a mix of weapons, projectiles and supernatural special attacks. The tournament structure sends a chosen character through the opposing roster toward a final confrontation, with short character endings providing the payoff.
Combat System
Fights use familiar high and low attacks, blocks, throws and directional special-move inputs, but the 3D button adds a defining wrinkle. It allows a fighter to sidestep into or out of the screen, creating a brief way around straight-line attacks and projectiles while keeping the match focused on a traditional fighting-game plane. Attacks can be linked into combos, and each character has a distinct set of special techniques to learn.
Finishers & Presentation
When the final round is won under the right conditions, character-specific finishing moves can end the match with the exaggerated violence associated with Midway’s arcade fighters. Digitized photographs were mapped onto polygonal models, producing an unusual blend of filmed facial detail and fully 3D bodies. Arenas use depth and camera movement to reinforce the step away from flat sprite-based competition.
Solo & Versus Play
Single-player tournament play is the route for learning matchups and seeing each fighter’s ending. Two players can compete locally in head-to-head bouts, where knowledge of spacing, special moves and the 3D sidestep becomes more important than predicting the computer. The Mature rating reflects the game’s graphic finishers and violent combat.
