Survival horror designed around the Wii U GamePad
ZombiU drops you into an infected London where ammunition is scarce, every supply run is dangerous, and one careless encounter can end a survivor's story. Guided by the unseen Prepper from a fortified safe house, you move through streets, tunnels, landmarks, and improvised shelters while searching for the resources needed to stay alive. The campaign is built around vulnerability rather than power: even familiar locations remain threatening when a single zombie can turn a routine search into a desperate fight.
Scavenge while the world keeps moving
Exploration plays in first person on the television, while the Wii U GamePad acts as the Prepper Pad. It holds the map, scanner, radar, inventory, and other survival tools. Looking down to search a container, organize the backpack, enter a code, or examine the environment does not safely pause the danger around you. That split attention is deliberate. You must listen for movement, choose what to carry, and decide whether another room is worth the risk.
Combat favors restraint. Firearms and explosives are effective but noisy and limited, while the cricket bat offers a reusable close-range option that demands space and timing. Barricades, narrow passages, flares, mines, and environmental chokepoints can help control a crowd. The scanner identifies useful objects and threats, but information only helps if you act before the infected close in.
Death creates the next survivor's problem
When a survivor falls in the standard campaign, the outbreak continues through a new character. The previous survivor becomes infected, taking the abandoned bug-out bag and its supplies into the world. Reaching that zombie and recovering the bag can restore valuable equipment; failing again can turn one bad decision into a larger loss. This structure gives each life its own identity while preserving overall progress and makes preparation more important than reckless accumulation.
For a harsher test, Survival mode gives the entire run one life. There is no replacement survivor to continue after death, so route knowledge, resource discipline, and calm use of the GamePad matter from the first encounter to the last.
Asymmetric local multiplayer
The Wii U release also includes a local two-player arena mode built around two different views. One player uses the GamePad as King Boris, placing types of zombies from an overhead tactical display. The other uses a supported controller and fights on the television from the survivor's first-person view. Power-ups and positioning keep the contest from becoming a simple numbers game, and swapping roles reveals how differently the two sides play.
Platform and service notes
This listing is for the North American Wii U disc release. Core campaign and local multiplayer play are offline; the Wii U GamePad is fundamental to the original design, and local two-player competition also needs a second compatible controller. Ubisoft ended ZombiU's legacy Wii U online services on October 1, 2022, and Nintendo ended Wii U online play and other online communication on April 8, 2024. Do not expect former leaderboards, Miiverse, friend-network features, or other online functions to operate. Those closures do not remove the offline campaign, one-life Survival mode, or same-room asymmetric multiplayer.
The selected condition determines which physical components are included. A disc-only or game-and-case copy should not be assumed to include the original manual, inserts, console bundle, controller, or other packaging unless the condition description explicitly says so.
