Pit Trains to Defend Angel Land
Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters sends Pit on a training quest before dark forces overwhelm Angel Land. Armed with his bow, he must fight through the realm and recover three magical treasures hidden by Palutena. Her mission makes becoming strong enough to use those treasures part of preparing for the final threat.
Arrows, Jumps and Hidden Routes
A makes Pit jump, and repeated presses during a jump soften his landing. B fires an arrow or swings the hammer when equipped; Select switches between those tools. The Control Pad also aims upward, climbs ladders and lets Pit crouch or drop through certain platforms.
The tower stages wrap around horizontally and extend beyond the visible screen. Looking to the sides can reveal doors or useful pickups missed by a direct climb. Later fortress areas link rooms with doors and ladders, making finding the route to their guardian another part of the challenge.
Hearts, Hammers and the Sacred Treasures
Defeated enemies leave hearts to collect, and hammers break special walls or reveal useful items. Helpful Centurions and the troublesome Eggplant Wizard are among the characters Pit meets while traveling from the Underworld toward the Sky Palace. The journey ties fighting, exploration and gathering resources together.
Hearts serve as currency for shops and the Black Market, where useful items and health restoratives can be bought. Building up points also improves Pit's health capacity, while strengthening his arrows makes later encounters easier to handle. These systems give fighting ordinary enemies a purpose beyond clearing a path.
The three treasures include the Wings of Pegasus, Light Arrow and Silver Armor. Their flight, ranged attack and protection support the final Sky Palace journey. Pit's preparation affects access to that equipment, connecting the training mission to his strength in the closing stage.
Save the Journey between Areas
At the end of an area, you can move left to the save option or right to continue without saving. The title screen's Continue choice resumes at the saved area. It gives this Game Boy adventure a way to carry progress between sessions while keeping the next section of the journey distinct.
Mythical Towers on the Game Boy
The monochrome adventure uses Pit and monster sprites against columns and stonework. The North American box shows a tower route and an enclosed fortress room.
This is the original Nintendo Game Boy cartridge release, identified on its North American package.
