About the Game
The Ren & Stimpy Show: Space Cadet Adventures puts the cartoon duo into a Game Boy rescue mission. Commander Ren Hoek is stranded after an accident during a spacewalk, leaving Cadet Stimpy to reach him through a dangerous ship. Their attempts to get back together carry the story through four stages, with control alternating between the two characters as the adventure changes location.
The action is viewed from the side: move through platforms, jump gaps and watch for hazards that move, fall or shoot across your path. Ren strikes at close range, while Stimpy sends a hairball projectile ahead of him. That difference changes how you approach an obstacle: Stimpy can attack from farther away, while Ren must get close enough to connect.
Toast slices replenish the energy meter; running out costs a life. Powdered-toast cans instead qualify you for a bonus game. Character-head pickups supply extra lives: a Ren head benefits Stimpy, and a Stimpy head benefits Ren.
Muddy Mudskipper appears through TV sets found along the route. Predicting at least two of three coin tosses grants temporary invincibility. Collect three powdered-toast cans, enter a TV set and choose heads or tails. Getting all three guesses right makes the protection last longer, giving the coin game a useful reward for an enemy-filled stretch.
Stimpy begins inside the armed spaceship. Ren then explores an alien world, including a route through a giant creature. Later sections take the pair through S.S. Flush and the Asteroid City Trailer Park. The rescue changes setting and active character while retaining its jumping-and-dodging foundation.
Monochrome character sprites and story screens bring the show's space-cadet costumes and unusual settings onto the original Game Boy display. This is a single-player adventure. The Control Pad moves the active hero, A jumps and B attacks. Start pauses play and can skip story sequences, keeping the action and the rescue story easy to move between.
